For many years, Jan and Joan have displayed their work together and this will be there first time exhibiting at the Forget-Me-Not Gallery. They are serendipitously back together again in support of The Samaritans of Rhode Island and the exhibit will remain on view throughout the spring.
About the Artists
Joan Thompson Boghossian, a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, began her arts studies when her fourth child left for college. Today, Joan is recognized as a Rhode Island master and a major talent in New England. She has won more than sixty significant prizes for her watercolors, oils, etchings and monotypes. She is a four-time winner of the Grumbacher Gold Medallion Award in watercolor. She is a member of numerous art associations, including the New England Watercolor Society, the Providence Art Club, the Copley Society of Boston, the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, and the Mystic Art Association.
A favorite of many private collectors, Jan Gaudreau, a graduate of Brown University, began her study of art as a young student at Bay View Academy in East Providence, RI. She continued her studies with such notables as Herman Itchkawich, June Dean and Sara Pennypacker. Over the years, as with many artists, her work continued to evolve. Her current exhibit in oils at the Forget-Me-Not Gallery is a triumphant celebration of color, texture and light mastering a technique described as “dancing brushwork” to capture the serendipitous moments experienced by all of us. Jan’s work was on display at the New England Picture Frame’s Honeycomb Gallery. She is a longtime member of the Providence Art Club.
